An interactive puzzle embed is a board a visitor solves in the browser, on a site you already own. It is not a PDF in an iframe and not a third-party puzzle toy with your logo stuck on it.
On newest Puzzle Maker Pro modules this is current output: generate playable JSON / HTML and publish it with the BookPublisherTools WordPress plugin, or host the player yourself. Interactive editions are the per-module license for that. The upload steps already live in Publish a Puzzle Catalog. This page is the category: what an embed is, who it is for, and what it is not.
Word search on WordPress is the specific case, already written: Embed Interactive Word Search on WordPress.
What site owners are actually buying
The visitor never sees your Windows generator. They see a page on your domain with a puzzle they can finish. You keep the nav, the email capture, and the button after the last board.
Typical jobs:
- A free sample next to a print title (“play one, then buy the book”).
- A lead-gen or membership extra on a site you already run.
- A practice path that is not a printed packet.
That is a product. It is not a feature you turn on for the whole catalog. You buy Interactive for the modules you actually want to play. Newest modules generate online playable output. Hexagon Word Search is the evidence-backed word-search example. Do not assume a square standard word search exports HTML until that product page says so [confirm]. Do not assume sudoku does either [confirm].
PuzzleWire is a future play-only SaaS, not in current bundles, and is not how you embed a puzzle today.
Embed vs the other interactive files
Interactive is one purchase and three possible lanes: interactive PDF, Puzzle Slides, and Online Play. Not every module wires every lane.
An embed is Online Play. The visitor solves it in a browser on your page. An interactive PDF is a file you sell or email. Puzzle Slides live in a deck. Do not list “interactive puzzle embed” and ship a fillable PDF. They are different products from the same license.
Web play only exists in the Interactive editions. Print PDF, images, and static slides do not require it.
What the embed has to be
It has to be obviously a puzzle in the first five seconds. If you need a how-to-play lesson, that is a solver note, not this article.
It has to live on your site. The plugin publishes a catalog as its own page or in a post. One catalog plays per page. Plan a sample page or a weekly challenge page, not five players stacked in one article.
It has to end in a way that works for you. A short free set that lands on your own button is a sales path. A sequence that stays in the browser is a practice path. Progress is local to that browser. Nothing comes back as a class dashboard. Do not sell the embed as an LMS.
It has to match the print promise when you also sell a book or pack. Same theme, same difficulty band. The four-channel map is the product-form article; this page is only the embed.
Commercial rights for digital products on your own site are part of the Puzzle Maker Pro license as stated on the homepage. That covers puzzles you generated. It does not let you embed someone else’s catalog.
What this is not
This is not a replacement for print. Most puzzle money is still books and printables. The embed is the second product: proof, sample, habit.
This is not a tutorial for the desktop app or the plugin. Editions explain Creative Interactive and Productivity Interactive. The catalog tutorial explains export, zip, and shortcode.
This is not “every puzzle type in the shop plays online.” Check the module. Newest ones do. Hexagon Word Search does. Older modules vary, and some Interactive lanes are missing on purpose.
This is not a site-wide SaaS you subscribe to. Interactive is a lifetime license per product.
When the category is worth a page
You already have a site and at least one newest-module puzzle you want people to play on your domain. Put a short set on a page you control, make the last screen yours, and keep the long file for KDP, Etsy, or TPT. Same assets. Two products. That is the embed.
If the puzzle is a hexagon word search on WordPress, use the word-search article. This page is the wider query.
