Quiz Builder: The Multiple-Choice Quiz Maker for Puzzle Books, Worksheets and Online Quizzes
Make a quiz once. Print it in your puzzle book, hand it out as a worksheet, and, with Interactive, put it on your website as a game that can grow your mailing list.
A visitor lands on your website and finds a short quiz on your subject. They click a letter box and know straight away whether they were right. The next round waits behind one small box: their email address. When the last round is done, the screen ends on a button you wrote: “Enjoyed the quiz? Get the full book.”
That quiz started as a text you already had. The chapter you wrote. Last term’s lesson notes. The training manual nobody reads twice. The local-history leaflet no other publisher has. From Creative up, Quiz Builder reads any text you give it, drafts multiple-choice questions from it, and backs every answer with the passage in your text that proves it. Then you edit any question or any answer by hand, until every line says what you want it to say.
I built the AI side around one rule: no question reaches your page on the word of the AI that wrote it. Each one has to quote that passage word for word, survive a second AI pass that can only reject it, never rewrite it, and then get past you.
No material of your own yet? Every edition ships with ten ready-made topic banks, 104 questions in all, so you can print a quiz tonight and bring your own subject in whenever you like, typed in or imported, with AI drafting from Creative up.

Put a Playable Quiz on Your Website, and Grow Your Mailing List With It
A free quiz is the friendliest sample you can give a reader: everyone already knows how to play, and everyone wants to see whether they got it right.
With Quiz Builder Creative + Interactive or Productivity + Interactive, export the set and upload the ZIP with the free Puzzle Maker Pro Online plugin for WordPress: the plugin creates the quiz page, and the hosted player runs it in your reader’s browser. There is nothing to code and nothing to maintain. Your readers answer by clicking a letter box, and you decide whether a pick is marked at once or when they press Check. You choose how the quiz is presented:
- A quiz list. Visitors pick a question from a dropdown and answer it. The quickest way to put a playable sample on your page.
- A leveled game. The questions become a path of levels that can unlock in order, and the visitor’s browser remembers how far they got. Set the level caption to Round and it plays like a pub quiz, one round at a time; set it to Lesson and a student works through a chapter at their own pace.
Turn players into subscribers. Lock the later levels behind an email sign-up and choose how many levels play free. Once you connect MailerLite or a webhook in the Puzzle Maker Pro Online plugin, every visitor who wants to keep playing signs up to your mailing list first, through a consent box you word yourself.
End on your offer. Clear the last level and the visitor sees the message you wrote and a button you labelled, pointing wherever you choose: your book, your course, your shop. Ten free questions on your site become the taster that sends readers to the book.
The plugin costs nothing; the Interactive edition is what feeds it your quizzes.

Yes, ChatGPT Can Write a Quiz. Quiz Builder Finishes the Job
Paste a chapter into ChatGPT and the questions arrive in seconds. Then the real work starts. You check every answer against the text yourself, line by line, evening after evening, because a wrong key is the review nobody forgets. You fix the options that give the answer away. You lay out the pages, build an answer key, and wedge the lot into a book layout that was never designed for it.
Quiz Builder does the rest of the job:
- It lives inside your puzzle books. Quiz Builder is a Puzzle Maker Pro module, so a quiz is just another puzzle collection: question pages and answer pages that drop into Instant Puzzle Books and Puzzle Book Studio like any other puzzle, and, with Productivity, into the same book as your word searches and logic puzzles.
- It checks the AI before you have to. On Creative and up, a question whose quote cannot be found in your text is dropped before you see it, and a second AI pass reviews the survivors, so your evenings go on the questions worth keeping. The three checks are spelled out below.
- It keeps you in charge. Every question and every answer in your own banks stays editable. Rewrite a question, swap a wrong answer, add your own questions by hand, or delete what you do not like.
Make a Quiz From Your Own Text: AI Drafting, Typing or a Spreadsheet
Your chapter already holds the questions. Quiz Builder Studio digs them out three ways, and all three land in the same review grid, so you can mix them in one bank. Typing and spreadsheet import come with every edition; AI drafting comes from Creative up.
Let AI draft questions from your own text. Paste a text in once and give it a name. It stays stored, so the same chapter can feed several banks. Set the number of questions, from 1 to 100, press Analyze with AI, and every question comes back with four answer options. Creative comes with 20 Puzzle Maker Pro AI credits and Productivity with 50, so you can start drafting without an API key; a text can run to about five pages on credits, or longer with your own OpenAI or Anthropic key, which stays on your machine (exact limits and credit costs in the FAQ).
Type questions in yourself. Add a row, write the question, give it two to five options, and mark the right letter. No AI, nothing to set up.
Import a spreadsheet. Bring in a CSV file with one question per row. A row the importer cannot read is skipped with a warning that names it, so a fifty-row file keeps its good rows. Export a bank back out to bulk-edit it in your spreadsheet, then bring it home again.
Here is the part I care about most. An AI-drafted question clears three checks before it is yours:
- It must quote your text, word for word. Every question carries the passage that proves its answer. If that passage is not in your text word for word, the question is thrown out. No paraphrase, no “close enough”.
- A second AI pass audits it. A separate pass checks the marked answer, whether only one answer can be defended, and whether the wrong answers are fair. It gives verdicts only and never rewrites. Anything it rejects is gone.
- You approve it. The survivors land in the review grid, and the bank records each one as AI-checked. Keep, edit or delete each one. Change any cell and the bank records that question as edited by you.
The quote stays with the question after you save it. Export the bank to CSV and every AI-drafted question carries its proof in its own column, ready for a second look. If you later change your stored text so a quote no longer matches, Quiz Builder warns you when you save the bank.
Here is the shape every question has to meet, shown with a built-in example from the Solar System bank (written by hand and held to the same word-for-word quote check):
Source sentence: “Mars is often called the Red Planet because of the reddish colour of its surface.”
Question: Why is Mars often called the Red Planet?
Options: A) Because of the reddish colour of its surface · B) Because it is the hottest planet · C) Because it is closest to the Sun · D) Because it has bright red rings
Quote it must match: “the reddish colour of its surface” · Right answer: A
Because the checks remove questions, Quiz Builder drafts extra and tops up a short run, so you normally get the number you asked for. When a text cannot support that many, it tells you instead of padding the list, and every question in the bank remembers how it got there: drafted and checked by AI, edited by you, or typed by you.
The checks prove each question traces back to your text. They cannot prove your text is right, which is why the last check is yours.

Want your own chapter in that grid? Choose Creative at the top of this page.
Mix Quiz Rounds Into Your Puzzle Books and Activity Books
A pile of loose pages is a project. A numbered book with the answers at the back is a product.
Every edition builds ready-to-print books with Instant Puzzle Books, straight from your current settings, one question to a page or several to a page for a worksheet, complete with a title page, a table of contents, and a footer on every question that tells your reader exactly which page its answer is on.
Mix the quizzes themselves, too. With Productivity, the Time Saver builds a mixed-topic set in one go: click Add banks…, tick dinosaurs, Rome and the human body, and each topic gets its own row with its own quantity and style, so one set moves from topic to topic or gives each its own chapter.
Puzzle Book Studio, included from Creative, gives your quiz collection the full book editor: fonts, titles, page numbers, layout, margins and trim size. With Productivity, Puzzle Book Studio combines several collections in one book, so a quiz round sits between your word searches and logic puzzles in a mixed activity book, or several quiz collections, each with its own style and settings, share one book.
Generic trivia packs go to everyone who buys them, so the questions in your book are the questions in theirs. A quiz round built from your own material is one nobody else can put in their book: your parish history, chapter four of your course, the railway that once ran through your county.
What a Finished Quiz Page and Its Answer Key Look Like
Your buyer judges the page, not the software. Everyone already knows how a multiple-choice question works, so there is nothing to teach on page one: a reader picks a letter, turns to the answer page, and checks themselves.
- An answer strip on every page. A row of letter boxes under the options, one per answer and the same size across the whole set, so the reader circles a box instead of scribbling in the margin.
- An answer key page for every question. The right box is ticked and the answer is printed underneath (“Answer: B”), drawn from the same question record, so the tick always lands on the answer you approved.
- Every page reads as one book. The text is sized once for the whole set, so a short question never prints in giant type beside a long one, and a one-page preview matches the book it previews.
- Your look, on every edition. Fonts, text colours, backgrounds, answer boxes and the tick mark are yours to style in every edition, so the quiz matches the rest of your book.

Shuffle Questions and Answers and Set the Quiz Length
A good quiz has a rhythm: questions in a fresh order, the right answer wandering from letter to letter. You set it from one screen. Pick a bank and set a quantity: ask for 10 and one run produces 10 question pages and 10 matching answer pages.
Pick the order. Shuffle question order is on by default, so the questions come out of the bank in a new order each run. Switch it off to keep the order you wrote them in.
Print every question once before any comes round again. Quiz Builder uses every question in the bank before it reuses one, so a set no bigger than the bank never repeats itself.
Mix topics with Productivity. The Time Saver gives every bank its own row, with its own quantity, style and settings, so one run builds a set that moves through several topics.
Move the right answer around. Answer shuffling is on by default, so the correct option lands under a different letter from question to question. Switch it off when you need the options in exactly the order you wrote them.
Make a round easier or harder with the option count. In your own banks each question carries two to five answers: a quick True/False round, or five options when you want guessing to stop paying. Change the count on any row in the grid, or export the bank to CSV and bring back an easier and a harder version.
Head every page with its topic. Every book page is headed with its topic automatically, so a reader always knows which round they are in, and single pages can carry it too. The heading is the bank’s name, your own text, or a plain “Quiz”.
Ten Ready-Made Trivia Quiz Topics, With Answer Keys, in Every Edition
Install it this afternoon and you can print a quiz tonight without writing a single question. Every edition, Quiz Builder included, ships with ten topic banks:
Aesop’s Fables · Ancient Egypt · Ancient Rome · Animals of the World · Dinosaurs · Inventions That Changed the World · Oceans and Sea Life · The First American Presidents · The Human Body · The Solar System
That is 104 questions, ten to twelve per topic, every one hand-written, checked against its source passage, and approved by me before it shipped. The topics stay clear of politics, religion and current events, so they sit comfortably in a family activity book, a classroom pack or a general trivia title, and with the Productivity Time Saver (one row per bank, each row set to its bank’s size) all ten together fill a mixed-topic book of 104 question pages, each with its answer page.
Run a Quiz Night From the Same Questions
Read a question out at quiz night and the room goes quiet. Put it on the big screen and they start arguing. With Creative and up, Puzzle Slides makes the set a PowerPoint deck of the same questions you print: the question on screen, a green check the players drag onto the box they choose, and the answer slide with the right box ticked to settle it.
Run it at a quiz night, a club meeting, a staff training session or a live stream. One run gives you the printed pack and the live round, so the questions you wrote for the book do a second job in the room.
What You Can Make With Quiz Builder
One question bank, and the set it produces goes wherever your readers are. The ten built-in topics print in every edition, as single pages, worksheets or a finished book, and so do the questions you type in or import yourself, so most of this list is open from day one:
- Printable trivia packs for Teachers Pay Teachers or Etsy, straight from the built-in topics, every question with its own answer page.
- Worksheets from your own lessons, a page of questions for the class and the answer key kept back for marking.
- End-of-chapter quizzes for your own book, course or study guide, written from the chapter itself.
- Topic quiz books for KDP and print-on-demand: a hundred questions on your subject, with the answers collected at the back.
- Study-group and Bible-study quizzes from the passage the group is reading this month.
- Training checks from a manual or a procedure document, so the team proves they read it.
- Quiz-night decks with Puzzle Slides, built from the same questions you print.
- Quiz rounds in a mixed activity book, between your word searches and logic puzzles (Productivity).
- A playable quiz on your own website that grows your mailing list and sends finishers to your book (Creative + Interactive or Productivity + Interactive).
Who This Is For
Teachers, tutors and TPT sellers. With Quiz Builder Creative, build a quiz from your own notes on this week’s topic, print it several questions to a page as a worksheet, and keep the answer key for marking or self-checking. Mix in a quick True/False round, or give a harder round five options so a lucky guess pays off only one time in five.
Activity-book and puzzle-book publishers. Already selling puzzle books? With Productivity, a quiz round becomes one more section in the books you already make, sitting between your word searches and logic puzzles. Quiz Builder opens from the same puzzle menu as your other modules, saves presets the same way, and its pages go into Instant Puzzle Books and Puzzle Book Studio just like the rest of your puzzles.
Authors, course creators and anyone building a list. Your book or course already has the material. Turn a chapter into a quiz, put it on your website with Interactive, and let the quiz do the selling: free rounds up front, an email sign-up to keep playing, your button at the end.
Self-publishers with a subject. You write about something, or you know a corner of the world nobody has made a quiz book about. With Creative, your material goes in, a checked set of questions comes out, and the book is yours alone.
Printable Quiz Files With Answer Keys, Plus Question Data on Productivity
The pages drop into a KDP interior, a printable pack or a vector layout untouched. Every edition exports PNG, JPG, SVG and PDF, a question page and a matching answer page for every question.
Creative adds Puzzle Slides for the live round. Productivity adds JSON export: the question data for your own apps and workflows, with the correct answer box marked in the data itself, so nothing downstream has to read the answer out of the text. The Interactive editions add the playable quiz on your website.
Which Edition Should You Choose?
Buy for the book you are making next, not for the longest feature list. Writing quizzes from your own lessons or your own book? Quiz Builder covers typing them in or importing them; choose Creative when you want AI to draft them from your text. Want that quiz playing on your website too? Choose Creative + Interactive.
Quiz Builder (Standard): you want printable quizzes this week. The ten built-in topic banks, plus Quiz Builder Studio for questions of your own, typed in or imported from a spreadsheet, every page styled your way, question and answer pages in PNG, JPG, SVG and PDF, and Instant Puzzle Books for a finished book or a stack of worksheets.
Creative: your subject is the quiz: your book, your lessons, your training material, and you want AI to write the first draft. Quiz Builder Studio drafts questions from your text with a quoted passage behind every answer, every question and answer stays editable, 20 AI credits to start, Puzzle Book Studio Creative, and Puzzle Slides.
Productivity: you are building mixed activity books, mixed-topic quiz sets, feeding questions into your own apps, or doing done-for-you work. Everything in Creative, plus the Time Saver for mixed-topic sets (one row per bank, each with its own quantity and style), Puzzle Book Studio Productivity for books that combine a quiz round with your other puzzle collections, JSON export, and the right to sell or supply the generated quizzes to other publishers and sellers, for example quiz interiors you produce for a client.
Creative + Interactive / Productivity + Interactive: your readers play your quizzes in their browser, on your own site, as a list or a leveled game that can sign them up to your mailing list and sends finishers to your book. Interactive adds web play on top of Creative or Productivity and carries everything that edition has.

Start with the edition that matches the book in front of you, and choose it at the top of this page. You can move up to any higher edition later, further up the ladder or with Interactive added on top, so the entry edition is never a dead end.
Try It Before You Buy
Print a quiz page on your own printer first, and spend nothing to do it. One free download includes every current Puzzle Maker Pro module, makes real quizzes from the real generator, and opens Quiz Builder Studio too, so you can type or import a few questions of your own and print them. Demo pages carry a watermark and come one at a time; any paid edition removes both.
Licensing and Commercial Use
Quiz Builder and Quiz Builder Creative both let you sell the finished books, worksheets, and packs you make to your own readers and customers, on KDP, Etsy, Teachers Pay Teachers, or your own store. One-time commercial-use licence. Watermark-free. Quiz Builder Productivity includes that, plus you may sell or supply the generated puzzles to other publishers and sellers. The Interactive editions carry the same rights as the edition they build on.
Every edition lets you sell to your own readers, and that covers books made from the ten built-in banks as well as your own. Productivity is the edition for client work, such as a quiz section you write and lay out for another publisher’s book. Build your own banks from material you have the right to use: your own writing, your own lesson or training notes, or a public-domain text.

Quiz Builder FAQ: Questions Before You Buy
Is there a free demo?
Yes. One download covers every current Puzzle Maker Pro module and prints real, watermarked quiz pages, so you can judge the output before you buy. Quiz Builder Studio opens in the demo as well, so you can type or import questions of your own and print them.
Can I upgrade later?
Yes, at any time after you buy: move further up the ladder for more production power, or add Interactive on top of Creative or Productivity.
Which edition do I need to use my own questions?
Any edition. Every edition includes Quiz Builder Studio, where you build as many banks of your own as you like, typed in or imported from a spreadsheet, and edit every question and answer in them. Creative adds AI drafting from your own text.
Do I need AI, or an API key?
No. In every edition, Quiz Builder Studio lets you type questions in or import a CSV file with no AI at all. When you want AI to draft questions from your text, Creative includes 20 Puzzle Maker Pro AI credits to start and Productivity 50, and you can add your own OpenAI or Anthropic key whenever you like.
How long can my source text be, and what does an AI run cost?
It depends on how you run AI: up to 12,000 characters, about five pages, on Puzzle Maker Pro AI credits, or up to 40,000 characters with your own OpenAI or Anthropic key. On credits, a run of up to 5 questions costs 1 credit, 6 to 12 cost 2, and more cost 3, so the 50 included credits cover 25 runs of ten questions. A text over the credits limit is turned away before anything runs, so it never costs you a credit.
Are AI-drafted questions guaranteed to be correct?
They are checked, not guaranteed. The quote check and the second AI pass prove a question traces back to your text, and nothing is saved until you approve it; whether your text is right is the one check that stays with you.
Can I put several questions on one page?
Yes, in every edition. Instant Puzzle Books lays several questions to a page when you want a worksheet, with the answers on their own pages, and Puzzle Book Studio (Creative and up) adds the full book editor on top.
Can I sell the quizzes I make?
Yes. Every edition lets you sell the finished books, worksheets and packs you make to your own readers and customers, on KDP, Etsy, Teachers Pay Teachers or your own store. Productivity adds the right to sell or supply the generated quizzes to other publishers and sellers.
What do I need to run it, and to put quizzes on my website?
Quiz Builder is a Windows desktop app: generating, styling and printing all run on your computer, built-in banks included, and you need a connection for AI drafting and publishing. For online play you need Creative + Interactive or Productivity + Interactive, your own WordPress site, and the free Puzzle Maker Pro Online plugin.
Do I need Vocabulary Quiz Builder too?
Pick by the material you start from. Quiz Builder turns your own text, or the ten trivia topics, into multiple-choice quizzes; Vocabulary Quiz Builder is the sister product for word lists and language learning. The two are licensed separately, so buy the one that fits your material.
Your Subject Deserves a Quiz Nobody Else Can Publish
The ten built-in topics get you printing today. Your own material is what makes a quiz nobody else can publish.
Somewhere in your last book, last term’s notes or the training manual on the shelf is your next title: a quiz round for your next activity book, a worksheet set for Monday, a free game on your website that fills your mailing list and sends finishers to the shop.
