Etsy sells a word-search pack as a file. A dozen pages on one theme, answer keys in the ZIP, printed at home this afternoon. Teachers Pay Teachers sells one skill on one page plus a key the teacher photocopies tomorrow. Same generators. Two products.
This page is the word-search shelf for the Etsy side. The printable contract — short themed pack, stated page count, a page one that reads in a thumbnail, keys in the file, an honest license line — is already written in Selling Puzzle Printables on Etsy. This page does not rewrite it. It picks the three looks that survive it.
The classroom family map is already written in TPT word search worksheets. This page does not rewrite that either.
A pack is not a worksheet
The channel difference is real, not cosmetic. An Etsy word-search pack is small and themed: one look, one difficulty band, puzzles plus keys, and the thumbnail does the selling. A TPT listing is one skill on one photocopier page plus a clean key. The TPT word-search hub owns that worksheet contract. The Standard-only vocabulary listing is already covered in TPT vocabulary word search worksheets — this hub will not rewrite it.
A bound word-search book is a third product — trim, page count, Look Inside. Puzzle Book Studio is the assembly step if you later want that book. Do not dump a hundred-page interior into a “printable” listing, and do not pad a twelve-page pack until it feels like a spine. This page is the pack. The four-channel map is the product-form article underneath.

Three looks, one shelf
Etsy’s word-search shelf is thick with square grids that look alike at thumbnail size. The way out is a first page that is obviously a different product. Three live Puzzle Maker Pro modules give you that. Each look is its own listing, not a new cover on the same pack.

Standard — the list is the pack
Standard Word Search hides your themed list in a square grid. The Etsy product is the list (ocean animals, kindness quotes, a wedding party), a readable word bank, and a matching key. One production note: the grid image does not carry the word bank — the used words come out as a separate text file, and you lay the bank onto the page when you assemble the pack.
Hexagon — the thumbnail has to be a honeycomb
Hexagon Word Search puts the same find-the-list job on hex cells. Words run on three axes — six directions once backwards is on — so the scan is genuinely different, and the first photo has to prove it. A square-grid thumbnail has already lost. Same pack contract (theme, keys, stated page count); different look.
Count — no word bank
Count Word Search takes the list away. The product is how many times a word appears, not a hunt through a bank.
Lite, and the default page, is one printed word plus a count box. Creative can put one to three words on the same grid; when several share a page, each word captions its own row. Do not upload a Standard page with the bank cropped off and call it Count. Title the skill (count the word, how many times). The key is the number and the marked copies.
Pack size, keys, preview
Etsy is a file, not a paperback and not a lesson plan.
- Pack size. Short and themed — typically 8–20 puzzle pages plus keys. One theme per ZIP. A leftover dump of every list you ever typed is a book wearing the wrong listing.
- Keys in the ZIP. Every page pairs with a marked solution. State both counts: “12 puzzle pages + 12 answer pages.” On Count the key is the number and the marked copies. A listing that hides the keys looks unfinished.
- The preview shows the look. Page one is a real puzzle page that still reads as itself in a small crop. If the title says hexagon, page one is a honeycomb. If the title says count the word, page one has no word bank.
One look per pack
Three products is at least three listings. Honest variants split further: a kids Standard pack, an adult Standard pack, a winter Hexagon pack, a Count party pack. Forty mixed word searches in one ZIP is the grab-bag nobody searched for.
The second pack in any look is cheap: swap the theme, regenerate, re-cut the file. What you never do is relist the same pack under a new cover.
Commercial rights to sell the finished puzzles as printables are part of the Puzzle Maker Pro license, as stated on the homepage. That covers you and the software, not Etsy’s own digital-item rules. Playable extras on newest modules are a separate product from an Etsy download. None of these listings is that product.
The whole point
The Etsy word-search shelf has three looks: a list in a square grid, a list in a honeycomb, and a count with no bank. Standard, Hexagon, and Count cover it. Pick one look per pack, make page one look like that look, put the keys in the ZIP, and leave the one-page worksheet on Teachers Pay Teachers.
