Single classroom count-word-search worksheet plus a separate answer-key page with the number, no software UI

TPT Count Word Search Worksheets

A Teachers Pay Teachers listing is not a puzzle book. The buyer is a teacher (or a seller who sells to teachers) paying for one activity page they can hand out tomorrow, plus a clean key they can trust.

The skill is exhaustive search and counting: find every copy of one printed word, write the number. It is not vocabulary-list hunting. That listing is already written: TPT vocabulary word search worksheets uses Standard Word Search. Do not sell this page as that page.

Count Word Search is the generator. This article is the classroom file. Do not turn it into a how-to-play lesson unless the listing is sold as a lesson. A generate walkthrough for this module is not live on the site yet — do not send readers to a create URL.

One activity, one key

They are buying time. One student page. One separate answer key. The key is the number and the marked copies. A title that names the job (count the word, how many times) beats “fun word search pack” with a mixed grab-bag.

They are not buying a title page, a table of contents, or enough puzzles to feel like a paperback.

Match the preview to the grade story. Younger pages can restrict directions (right, down, down-right; backwards off). A default page hides copies in eight directions; they can cross and share letters. A palindrome still counts once. There is always exactly one correct total.

The usual hidden-count range is about 10–14; you set it. A word-letters fill is a harder attention task than an alphabet fill. Do not stamp “grades K–1” on a dense eight-direction grid.

US letter is the default expectation. Do not silently ship a 6×9 book page. Type and the count box have to survive a classroom copier.

On TPT the buyer is buying TPT’s own resource license, not a school or commercial license you attach to the listing. The default is an Individual License: one teacher, their own classroom. Extra colleagues need additional licenses. If you want to grant extra rights, write them as seller-authored terms in the listing, on top of TPT’s license.

Worksheets are not interiors

A KDP Count Word Search book (count-word-search-puzzle-book-kdp) is a different product: trim, page count, Look Inside. Same count. Wrong file for TPT. Do not upload the book PDF and hope.

Keep the settings that make the page fair (one word, the count range, directions, fill). Drop the book chrome. Put the number on its own sheet so a teacher can print 28 puzzles and one key.

The answer box uses the same number of squares on every page in the set — sized from the highest count you allowed — so the box never leaks this page’s answer. That is a fairness detail, not a decorate-the-page trick.

Puzzle Book Studio is the assembly tool for books. A single worksheet may never need it.

The four-channel map is the product-form article. An Etsy pack (count-word-search-printables-etsy) is a short themed download. This is the classroom page.

Online play is yes: Creative Interactive or Productivity Interactive. The seller publishes playable catalogs — JSON/HTML for the WordPress plugin or a self-hosted player — to a site they already own. This listing is still the PDF. See the editions page. A default catalog is a menu. A finish-screen button is only there if you opted into a leveled game under Catalog Merge → Game Options. Do not sell the TPT file as an LMS. That extra is online-playable-count-word-search.

Commercial rights for finished puzzles on Teachers Pay Teachers are part of the Puzzle Maker Pro license as stated on the homepage. That is not a substitute for TPT’s content rules.

The whole point

A TPT Count Word Search worksheet is one counting page plus a separate key with the number. Name the job, keep the list hunt on the Standard Word Search listing, and stop before it turns back into a book.
