How to Use Presets in Puzzle Maker Pro
Overview
Presets let you save and reuse all your puzzle settings — from fonts and colors to grid sizes and styling — ensuring a consistent look and efficient workflow.
They’re especially useful when you want to maintain a uniform appearance across multiple sessions or projects.
Typical Use Cases:
- Maintaining a consistent style between books or projects
- Creating variations for different age groups, themes, or difficulty levels
- Structuring a full puzzle book using Time Saver presets, where each session generates new puzzles while keeping the same layout and difficulty setup
- Building a collection of puzzle presets first, then importing and combining them inside a Time Saver preset for large-scale or themed book creation
By using presets effectively, you can speed up your workflow, maintain quality, and easily reproduce puzzle styles whenever needed.
Required Modules
Presets are available in all modules that support customization.
Two types of presets exist:
- Puzzle Presets – Save all puzzle design and layout settings.
- Time Saver Presets – Save full batch-generation setups for automated or structured puzzle creation.
Most Time Saver modules can import and use puzzle presets, allowing you to combine existing puzzle styles within larger book layouts.
Preparation
Before creating or using presets:
- Configure your desired puzzle settings — such as fonts, colors, borders, and layouts.
- If you already have presets, open the Preset dropdown (located above your puzzle preview area).
- Recognize the icons:
- ▼ – Opens the list of available presets
- [name] – Indicates a built-in (system) preset
- User presets – Custom presets you’ve created
- ★ – Marks a preset as favorite so it appears at the top of the list

Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Creating or Saving a Preset
- Configure your puzzle as desired.
- Click the plus (+) icon next to the Preset name field.
- This clears the field and allows you to enter a new preset name.
- Type a descriptive name (e.g., Kids Layout, Minimalist Style, Level 3 Difficulty).
- Click the Save (💾) icon to store your preset.
- It will appear in the dropdown list.
Step 2: Loading and Managing Presets
- Click the ▼ dropdown arrow to view all presets for the current puzzle type.
- Select a preset to instantly apply all its saved settings.
- To favorite a preset, click the ★ icon — favorites appear at the top of the list.
- To delete or rename a preset, open the Manage Presets menu and choose the desired action.
Step 3: Applying Presets for Workflow Efficiency
- Use Puzzle Presets to quickly reload styling and difficulty setups between sessions.
- Combine multiple Puzzle Presets inside a Time Saver Preset to structure full puzzle books with varied layouts or levels.
- Each time you run the Time Saver, new puzzles are generated following the same design logic — ideal for producing consistent puzzle books over time.
- Since presets do not include output, branding, or global settings, you can safely reuse them across projects.
Tips & Best Practices
- Use clear, descriptive names for presets so you can easily identify their purpose.
- Create separate presets for different audiences or themes (e.g., Educational, Holiday, Adult Challenge).
- Review and clean up unused presets periodically to keep your list organized.
- When working on multiple projects, favorite your most-used presets for quick access.
