I Made 4,500 Math Puzzles in 45 Minutes. Here’s How.
If you’re still building math puzzles one at a time, you’re doing it the hard way.
This is the story of how I went from manually formatting worksheets (and swearing at spreadsheets) to generating thousands of beautiful, custom-branded math puzzles in the time it takes to watch a Netflix episode.
Spoiler: I didn’t outsource. I didn’t hire a VA. I just changed how I work.
Let’s break it down.

The Before State: Manual, Tedious, and Slow
Before I found a better way, here was my typical workflow:
- Plan the worksheet in Google Docs or Canva
- Manually enter equations (hoping I didn’t fat-finger a solution)
- Format the layout for symmetry
- Add spacing, lines, grid boxes manually
- Try to match the visual style across all puzzles in a bundle
- Repeat. Again. And again.
Even with templates, it was a grind. I could make maybe 10–20 puzzles per hour if I focused hard.
Batch production? Not happening.
The Breakthrough: Automation + Flexibility

What changed? I discovered a method for generating puzzles in a crisscross math format that lets me:
- Choose the number of puzzles (1 to 5,000+)
- Customize number range, operators, and equation count
- Reuse styling presets (fonts, colors, branding)
- Export everything to print-ready formats (PDF, JPG, SVG, PowerPoint)
- And (this part is magic) generate puzzles with solutions included
The setup took about 5 minutes. The batch? 4,500 puzzles in 45 minutes. Done. Saved. Ready to ship.
Why This Works (and Works Fast)
Batch generation isn’t just about speed. It’s about:
- Consistency: Every puzzle follows your formatting rules
- Creativity: You can create multiple skill levels in one batch
- Reusability: Sell, license, reuse, or repurpose puzzles across bundles
- Scale: Build books, challenge packs, or custom worksheets by the dozen
Whether you’re building:
- 100-page workbooks
- Weekly classroom packets
- PLR bundles for Etsy or Gumroad
- Puzzle series for niche audiences…
This method flips the puzzle-creation process from bottleneck to superpower.
The Format: What Is a Criss Cross Math Puzzle?
Think crossword + equations. A criss cross math puzzle connects equations inside a shared grid. It looks like a puzzle. It solves like math. And it delivers:
- More engagement than basic worksheets
- Less guessing than multiple choice
- Deeper thinking than linear drills
Each number connects to another. Each solution builds off the last. And when you’re done, you’ve solved something — not just “finished math problems.”

What You Can Customize
For each puzzle (or batch), I can control:
- Number of puzzles in the batch
- Number of equations per puzzle
- Number range (1–200, 1–1000, etc.)
- Use of addition, subtraction (and more coming)
- Fixed vs. dynamic grid layouts
- Fonts, borders, grid styling
- Branding: title, logo, watermark
- Whether to include solutions automatically
I save presets for each audience. One for classroom. One for KDP. One for my resellers.
Set it once. Run it forever.

Let’s Talk Output
You can export to:
- PDF: Perfect for printing or digital downloads
- JPG: Add to Canva, printables, or marketing graphics
- SVG: Scale for any platform or design software
- PowerPoint: Great for presentation use or layering multiple puzzle types
And everything comes out at 300 DPI, styled exactly the way you want.
What You Can Do With 4,500 Puzzles
Let’s say you generate 4,500 crisscross puzzles. What could you do?
- Create 45 unique 100-page math workbooks
- Build a monthly membership product for teachers or homeschoolers
- Launch a puzzle-of-the-day email list
- Bundle themed puzzles for holidays or skill levels
- Sell private label rights (PLR) to puzzle content
That’s not theoretical. That’s my actual roadmap.
Want to Try It Yourself?
Here’s where to start:
You don’t need design skills. You don’t need to love math. You just need a way to create better content, faster.
This is it.
